Alexander Ivashchenko
Alexander Ivashchenko began his musical journey at the age of 4 when he started studying vocals with a private teacher. Later, he continued his musical education in a musical school where he was introduced to jazz music for the first time. He quickly gained experience performing a variety of repertoire at concerts and competitions in his hometown in Russia.
At the age of 11, Alexander moved to Kazakhstan, where he continued his studies under the guidance of Moroccan jazz pianist Jawad Aidaoui. He also began performing extensively in the local music scene. In 2014, he had the opportunity to participate in the “Five-Week Summer Program” at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
In 2015, Alexander relocated to Saint Petersburg to further his musical education at St. Petersburg Mussorgsky College of Music, specializing as a pop/jazz singer. During his years of study, he had the privilege of performing with prominent musicians from Saint Petersburg, including Andrey Zimovets and his Jazz Classic Trio, a former student of Barry Harris, as well as Ilya Lushtak, a well-known guitar player in the New York jazz scene. Additionally, he participated in masterclasses led by renowned artists such as Kurt Elling and Patti Austin.
In 2019, Alex moved to Amsterdam to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Voice at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He studied under major subject teachers Humphrey Campbell and Sylvi Lane, with Wiebe-Pier Cnossen as his vocal technique teacher. During his studies, he had the honor of learning from his musical heroes, including Becca Stevens, Michael Mayo, Theo Bleckmann, and Aaron Parks. He actively became a part of the Amsterdam music scene, collaborating with artists such as Dima Loginov, Joan Fort, Kristina Kovaleva, and Francisco Garrido.
