Līva Dumpe

Līva Dumpe is a vocalist, pianist, and composer from Latvia. Born and raised in a musical household, she quickly developed her skills in piano playing, singing, and songwriting as a means of self-expression.

After studying classical piano for over eight years, she continued her high school education in Riga, focusing on jazz vocal performance. During this time, Līva collaborated with big bands and demonstrated her promising talent in international jazz competitions, including the Riga Jazz Stage 2016 (3rd place) and Voicingers in Žory 2017 (superfinalist).

In 2016, Dumpe moved to the Netherlands to pursue her education at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she graduated summa cum laude. As part of her studies, she participated in an exchange program at the USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles.

Throughout her years in Amsterdam, Līva has been involved in a wide variety of projects, including Fuensanta Ensemble Grande, Marta Arpini, Chai Masters, and Kika Sprangers Large Ensemble. Recently, she had the opportunity to work and perform with Louis Cole and the Metropole Orchestra.

Līva’s passion for teaching is deeply rooted in her family, with her mother being a violin teacher and her father a trumpet teacher. Witnessing their dedication to developing their students’ musicality and talent inspired Līva to follow in their footsteps and share her knowledge.

Līva emphasizes the importance of developing a solid technique, whether it’s in singing or piano playing. She believes that a strong technique is essential for performing more advanced repertoire and making significant progress. Additionally, Līva’s teaching style is creative and encourages her students to explore music on various levels.
